Sunday Formation for All Ages
Sunday Formation is a staple at St. John in the Wilderness, with offerings for children of God of all ages.

All Sunday Formation classes meet from 10 until approximately 10:45am. Adults and high schoolers meet in the Wilderness Room (#3 on the map at the bottom of this page), and the Nursery and classes for middle schoolers and children are located in the Education Wing (#6 on the map).

Adults & High Schoolers
The Christian Formation and Education Committee works diligently to curate relevant and intriguing topics for discussion for our adults and high schoolers. Topics vary during the church year, and a variety of leaders--both parishioners and from the community--present.

If you have an idea for formation for adults and high schoolers or would like to join the Committee, please reach out to the Parish Office.

Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
Middle schoolers are invited to take part in EYC, which meets under the leadership of Mary Anne Inglis. This class is relaxed, with pillows for floor-sitting in a room hand-painted by the youth. This group has watched movies such as The Nativity and Jesus Christ Superstar, begun a timeline of Christian history, and even used SpongeBob to illustrate the Seven Deadly Sins.

Children
Ages 4-10
Children's Sunday School uses the Kid Compass curriculum. In this class led by Lynn Wiescholek, children are invited to engage with each other and God through devotions, prayer, Bible study, offertory opportunities, hands-on activities, reading, music, creative play, discussion, sharing, and the celebration of special events (e.g., birthdays). Healthy snacks and drinks are offered, and each class ends with a closing prayer and clean-up time.

Nursery
Nursery care by qualified staff is available from 8:30am until 12:30pm for children ages 0 to 4. The Nursery is located in the Education Wing across from the EYC Room. Though Nursery care is available throughout the morning, we welcome children to worship with us.
