All Are Welcome!
What to Expect:
St. John in the Wilderness is throwing a party for the feast day of our patron saint, and you’re invited! The Feast of St. John is a joyful community event celebrating Henderson County with food, music, dancing, games, and more.
All are welcome to join the festivities at the family-friendly celebration featuring food, fellowship and live music by Chatham Rabbits. Partners in life and music, Sarah and Austin McCombie have captured the adoration of fans nationwide and praise from Garden & Gun, American Songwriter, Paste, and No Depression. Amid an impressive touring schedule, the two have already released four full-length records and somehow find energy to run their farm in their home state of North Carolina, a work ethic and connection to community that comes through in their songwriting. In 2020, the band played 194 neighborhood concerts as part of their concept The Stay at Home Tour, allowing them to connect with fans in a time of need. The following year, the duo caught the attention of PBS and filmed a limited series titled On the Road. Their fourth album Be Real with Me was released independently on February 14, 2025 and has been called “absolutely marvelous and beguiling” by No Depression Magazine and “a masterclasses in songwriting” by Americana Highways.
The band will grace the stage at 6:00pm, but guests should arrive early to get their food order in and find a seat. Yard games will be offered for all. Delicious food and beverages will be available for purchase at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse. Seating at the picturesque outdoor courtyard is limited, so guests are encouraged to bring portable chairs. If it rains, we will move the celebration to the Parish Hall of St. John in the Wilderness (1905 Greenville Highway, Flat Rock) and encourage you to purchase food from Hubba Hubba beforehand. No registration is necessary.
Proceeds from the Feast will benefit hurricane recovery in Bat Cave through the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. Admission to the event is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted to support this important work.
