All Are Welcome!
What to Expect:

St. John in the Wilderness is throwing a party for the feast day of our patron saint, and you’re invited! The Feast of St. John is a joyful community event celebrating Henderson County with food, music, dancing, games, and more.

All are welcome to join the festivities at the family-friendly celebration featuring food, fellowship and live music by acclaimed Americana/folk singer-songwriter and performer Aaron Burdett, who has been playing with the Steep Canyon Rangers since 2022. His lyrics are known for being soul-touching, intelligent, witty, and poetic all at once, while his music style is a seamless blend of Americana, country, blues, bluegrass, and folk. Aaron is listed as one of the Top 10 most important musicians of western North Carolina by WNC Magazine, alongside such greats as Doc Watson, Steep Canyon Rangers, and The Avett Brothers. Drawing heavily on both the traditions of Appalachian folk music as well as nationally known songwriters, Aaron’s music gives voice to the small rural areas of the Blue Ridge Mountains while also speaking to the working class folks throughout the country.

Aaron will grace the stage at 6:00pm, but guests should arrive early to get their food order in and find a seat. Yard games will be offered for all. Delicious food and beverages will be available for purchase at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse and the Flat Rock Village Bakery.  Seating at the picturesque outdoor courtyard is limited, so guests are encouraged to bring portable chairs. No registration is necessary.

Proceeds from the Feast will benefit the Flat Rock Backpack Program, a ministry that has been feeding school children facing food insecurity in Henderson County since 2008. Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted to support this important work.
