This summer, St. John in the Wilderness is throwing a party for the feast day of our patron saint, and you’re invited! The Feast of St. John is a joyful community event celebrating Henderson County with food, music, dancing, games, and more.
The fourth annual celebration will be held from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday, June 30, at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse, located behind Little Rainbow Row at 2724 Greenville Highway in Flat Rock. The rain location is set for the Parish Hall of St. John in the Wilderness at 1905 Greenville Highway.
All are welcome to join the festivities at the family-friendly celebration featuring food, fellowship and live music with the return of North Carolina’s beloved Chatham Rabbits. Partners in life and music, Chatham Rabbits’ Austin and Sarah McCombie blend their personal histories and shared life into songs that people from just get. The duo has captured the pure adoration of fans nationwide and praise from American Songwriter, Garden & Gun, and No Depression. Sarah’s brimming voice fills the space with heart. Austin’s steadiness always serves the song. It makes one wonder if their relationship is the same. It’s nice to imagine that art imitates life. The duo is currently finishing their fourth full length album and enjoying the afterglow of the successful nationwide syndication of their PBS series, “On the Road with Chatham Rabbits.”
Chatham Rabbits will grace the stage at 6:00pm, but guests should arrive early to get their food order in and find a seat. Yard games will be offered for all. Barbecue and other family-favorite foods and beverages will be available for purchase at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse. Seating at the picturesque outdoor courtyard is limited, so guests are encouraged to bring portable chairs.
Proceeds from the Feast will benefit the Community Food Pantry in Edneyville. Admission is free, but donations to the Pantry are encouraged from attendees. Chatham Rabbits and St. John in the Wilderness are teaming up to match donations up to $2,000.
"The Feast of St. John has become a wonderful way to celebrate Flat Rock and the surrounding community each year. Our parishioners, like many of you, feel incredibly fortunate to live in this beautiful place,” said Reverend Josh Stephens, Rector. “We also are fortunate to have each other as neighbors and friends, so we hope you will join us to celebrate our many blessings. This year, we are especially pleased that monetary donations at the concert will benefit the Edneyville Community Food Pantry, which is an amazing organization serving hundreds of people facing food insecurity in Henderson County each month."
The Feast of St. John is made possible by the Endowment of St. John in the Wilderness and the generosity of its parishioners. For more information, visit www.stjohnflatrock.org or call 828-693-9783.

I recently purchased from Peace In War and I’m genuinely impressed with the overall experience. The quality of the clothing feels premium, with a comfortable fit and attention to detail that really stands out. My hoodie looks exactly as shown and feels great for everyday wear. I also loved the modern streetwear design, which makes it easy to style with different outfits. The ordering process was smooth, and my package arrived in excellent condition. Peace In War offers a great balance of style, comfort, and quality. I’ll definitely be shopping from the collection again and recommending it to others.
A clothing label becomes easier to remember when its identity feels deliberate from the beginning. The name Peace in War certainly does that. I was curious to see how that concept carries into the fashion side, and it makes the brand an interesting one to discover. https://peaceinwarshop.com/
